Pro golfer help?? Question about blades versus cavity back irons?

I am just the average golfer, but love the game more than anything. I am currently in college, and will graduate in a year or so. I plan on becoming more aggressive with making my golf game better soon when I have more time. I am looking into a new set of irons, but have a question about blades versus cavity back irons. I know that cavity backs are a lot more forgiving, but blades are your better irons for consistency and so on. For an average golfer looking to get better, which irons would you advise someone to use that is looking to get better? My handicap is between a 16-18, but I will be working to bring that down with lots of more practice. Any advise on irons? (For the blades I am looking at the Nike VR Pro Blades, and for cavity backs I am looking at the Taylormade Burner 2.0 Irons)
